Data Preparation

Data preparation is often a critical step in data engineering as it is essential to put data in context to turn it into insights and eliminate bias resulting from poor data quality.
Data is often found fragmented, with gaps, inaccuracies or other errors, and separate data sets often have different formats that need to be homogenized so that they can be combined. Correcting data errors, validating data quality, and consolidating data sets are big parts of our data preparation.
Data Modelling
We use Semantic Data Modelling to connect multiple data sources in BI tool using a relationship. A relationship defines how data entities (tables) are connected, and this results in interesting data visualisations on multiple data sources.
With the modelling feature, we create custom calculations (using DAX or MDX) on the existing tables, and these columns can be directly presented in visualisations. This allows businesses to define new metrics and perform custom calculations for those metrics.
